Why Must I Pay My Fines?
We acknowledge that paying a traffic fine is a grudge payment, but it is a necessary one.
- Penalties: Failing to pay your outstanding traffic fines can affect your ability to drive legally. It can lead to escalating fines and a suspended driver's licence.
- Enforcement Actions: If you fail to pay your fines after a court date has been set, the relevant municipality issuing the fines will enforce payment by issuing a warrant or enforcement order for your arrest, which could lead to imprisonment and additional penalties.
- Insurance Implications: Traffic infringements can affect your vehicle insurance premiums.
- License Disc Renewal: It will be impossible to renew your licence disc once an enforcement order has been issued by the relevant municipality due to non-payment of fines. Your Identity Number (ID) or BRN will be blocked which may result in further penalties for an expired licence.
